Oyster Bay's Kathryn Bougadis, who once worked on a show for Bravo, is now starring on one -- "Newlyweds: The First Year," premiering Monday night at 10.

Bougadis, 33 -- who among other TV-production jobs was rights and clearances coordinator for the company that produced "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" -- and husband John Lagoudes, 40, are one of four couples from around the country who allowed a camera crew to record them from wedding to first anniversary.

"When I heard the concept of documenting 365 days from the day I said, 'I do,' I knew this is something I wanted to do," Bougadis says. "And John and I talked it out together, and that's when I knew I was really in love, because we were on the same page."

That would be a Twitter page, where her sister's husband had seen a casting notice and thought the gregarious Greek-Americans would be good TV. "We just sent a little bio email and the director of the show called me back immediately that morning and sent someone to the house to meet us and they liked us," Bougadis says. "Within two weeks of our wedding, we were a go."

Bougadis, originally from Bayside, had lived in Manhattan but was between shows and staying with her parents in late 2010 when she met Lagoudes, who was born in Flushing and raised in Bellerose and Syosset. She hadn't planned on going out that night, but, "I'm a die-hard Yankees fan, and the playoffs were on, and my brother-in-law said, 'I'm at Sugar, come watch the game.' "

Lagoudes was there with a friend who, after meeting Bougadis, introduced the two.

After their marriage, Lagoudes -- who graduated from Island Drafting and Technical Institute in 1995, and runs JL Drafting in Farmingdale -- gave her Glow Tanning Salon in Nesconset to run. "I own a commercial building, and this was a dying tanning salon that wasn't keeping up with the rent. So one month after the marriage, I took it over. Kathryn did a fantastic job. She basically took her Manhattan artsy lifestyle and gave it a New York chic look."

Oh, so that's why these newlyweds are glowing. Or is it? Stay tuned.
