Amar'e would see limited time in Game 3
Stoudemire, who is rehabbing from right knee surgery on March 11, has been targeted to return on Saturday night in Indianapolis, and Woodson said Wednesday that remains “a possibility.”
As part of his ramp-up, Stoudemire was scheduled to play 3-on-3 at the Knicks training facility Wednesday, and the Knicks said they had no update on whether that took place.
If all goes as scheduled, Stoudemire is slated to take Thursday off and then scrimmage with the team on Friday before playing in an NBA game for the first time since March 7 on Saturday night.
“Amar'e is a big piece of this team and if he's telling me, and the medical people say he’s ready to go come Saturday, we're going to throw him out there and see what he got,” Woodson said.
In 29 games off the bench this season, Stoudemire averaged 14.2 points and 5 rebounds in 23.5 minutes. He was limited to a 30-minute cap after undergoing right knee surgery in October.
