Mike Woodson still isn’t saying he’ll put Amar’e Stoudemire in the starting lineup. But he reiterated that he will play Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler together more and more.

The Knicks didn’t practice today, but Woodson was on ESPN 98.7 FM and talked about the importance of that trio gelling. He said similar things over the weekend in Philadelphia and it makes sense since they are arguably the Knicks’ three best players.

“Make no mistake about it: I’m not going to hide from that lineup,” Woodson said. “ Eventually we will get to it throughout the course of a game big minutes. We’re slowly working our way there. Statistically they are working well together.”

They were on the court together down the stretch of yesterday’s win in Atlanta, as well in Boston Thursday. According to 82games.com, a frontline of Anthony, Stoudemire and Chandler has played together for more than 91 minutes and they are a plus-26.

“That’s going to be pivotal for our ball club as we move up the road and continue this journey that we get these three guys more accustomed to playing together,” Woodson said.
