Carmelo Anthony went through a workout this morning and is a game-time decision tonight against the Pistons.

“He was cutting more,” coach Mike D’Antoni said. “He said he felt pretty good. He’s getting real close. He wanted to go out before the game and try and if it feels good he’ll do it. If not, one or two more days.”

Meanwhile, Baron Davis is out tonight and perhaps until next week.

Anthony, who was not available, said yesterday that his ankle is bothering him more than his wrist and thumb right now.

Whether Anthony plays or not the Knicks likely will be a little cautious with him considering their schedule.

After tonight, they play their only set of back-to-back-to-back Thursday, Friday and Saturday against the Bulls, at Boston and versus the Nets. D’Antoni said it could have an effect on how Anthony is used.

“We just have to think about it,” D’Antoni said. “At the end of the day it might not. If he reacts a little bit different or feels something we may have to sit him a little bit. Hopefully it won’t impact him. But we have to be aware about it.”

Davis didn’t practice Monday, but is scheduled to go through tomorrow’s practice. D'Antoni doesn't think he'll play before next week.

“They gave him some down days,” D’Antoni said. “I don’t think it’s a setback. But it was giving him some time for him to calm down.”
