Recap: The first seven innings of this game was all Yankees, who jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Mark Teixeira hit two homers, including a grand slam while Andruw Jones had a solo home run. In the eighth inning, the Rays capped a six-run inning with a three-run home run by Evan Longoria to cut the Yanks' lead to one. Dan Johnson homered in the ninth for the tie and Longoria won it in the 12th with a solo shot. Meanwhile in Baltimore, the Orioles scored two runs in the ninth inning for a little walk-off magic of their own to knock the Boston out of the playoffs.
Key stat: A.J. Burnett pitched to one batter out of the bullpen in the seventh inning. He retired Sean Rodriguez on a grounder to third base before being taken out of the game.
