The lithe, long-armed 6-9 center led LuHi into the state Federation Class AA title game, was voted New York's Gatorade Player of the Year and named Newsday's Dick Sandler Award winner as the Long Island Player of the Year. Facey averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks per game in leading the Crusaders to a 25-3 record.
