Beach restaurants in the city
Lobster at Randazzo's
Fried clams, steamed lobsters and a cold beer. A table by the water. A seat in the sun. Is this summer or what? Here are seven places where you find the beach in the city.
Randazzo's Clam Bar
Randazzo's, currently owned by Paul Randazzo, has been a family-run restaurant for generations. Sitting right on Sheepshead Bay, this spot draws many regular customers from near and far. Stop in for fried calamari, Randazzo's famous tomato sauce, steamed lobster, or, of course, clams.

The Lobster Box
City Island, and the avenue with the same name, hosts a proliferation of seafood spots, all along the marina. The Lobster Box is an upscale option that offers more ambiance and service than its neighboring fish-fry joints, as well as succulent lobster dishes.
34 City Island Ave
City Island, Bronx
(718) 885-1952
The Crab Shanty
The Crab Shanty is a butter-on-your-chin, elbows-on-the-table, who-needs-a-bib kind of place. No wonder it's a local favorite. (They do, of course, have bibs if you want one.)

City Island, Bronx

Hudson Beach Café
The Henry Hudson Parkway doesn't exactly count as a beach, but this café does sit on a pavilion near a big sandpit where people play volleyball and swing on a ring apparatus. The café offers spectacular views of the Hudson River. Stop by in the evening to take in the sunset, have a burger and a drink. Riverside Park at 105th Street.

Carmen's Restaurant
Carmen's lists Spanish and seafood dishes on its menu, but it is best known for its stunning ocean view.
750 Barclay Ave
Staten Island
(718) 356-2725
Pacifico
Like a backyard place on the beach in Mexico, this Brooklyn place has colored lights, picnic tables and Mexican food. All you need are the mariachis.
269 Pacific St
(718) 935-9090
Steamers Landing
This restaurant overlooks the esplanade in Battery Park City and has wide open vistas of the water. When you put the views together with the fresh seafood on a warm summer night, you almost feel like you're in the Caribbean.
