    Blair's music video

    Leighton Meester's single "Somebody to Love" now has a video. I've warmed up to the song some since I first heard it, and, in fact, I now think if this had come out five months ago, this could be a contender for the song of the summer. It's light and fun and mostly disposable. But mostly fun.

    It's still really hard to square the image of Leighton the sexpot with prim and proper Blair of the Upper East Side, though. B would be horrified by this, I think. Which is a testament to Meester's acting, but I think it will make it hard for her to be a pop star while she's on "Gossip Girl." Our pop culture makes it hard for actors to be musicians and vice versa, and few have managed to pull that off successfully. (Once upon a time, I did a pretty extensive story on this. Of course it has been lost to the wilds of the internet.)
