Bill Evans, of WABC, and wife head to court over domestic dispute, reports say
Veteran WABC / 7 meteorologist Bill Evans and his wife of 19 years, Dana, will be arraigned in a Stamford, Conn., court Tuesday morning to answer assault and disorderly conduct charges filed by Greenwich police last week. The charges arose from a May 4 domestic altercation at the couple's Old Greenwich home, according to online reports Monday.
Details were not released. An ABC spokeswoman also declined to comment, saying in a statement, "We are reviewing the situation and have no further comment at this time."
Philip Russell, Evans' attorney, referred to a statement that read, in part: "The charges arose from an incident on May 4, 2013 in his home between Bill [and his] wife. . . . Bill and Dana are presently going through a difficult divorce. We expect that Bill will be exonerated and this case will be quickly forgotten."
The attorney for Dana Evans, Mark Sherman, said she reported the incident, which led to the charges, adding in a statement, "obviously divorces can get emotional and we expect Dana to be cleared of these charges in due time."
