The Long Island Maritime Museum hosted its annual Pirate Festival on June 15 and 16 with a special twist. On Saturday, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Suffolk County teamed up with the museum to grant cancer survivor Jessie Olmedo's wish to become a pirate.

In addition to getting to be a pirate for the day, Jessie Olmedo, 6, of Medford, was surprised at the Long Island Maritime Museum Pirate Festival with a treasure chest full of toys and a wooden pirate ship playground set.
