What’s better than the first day of spring in NYC? Macarons! (Or macaronuts.)

On Sunday, March 20, the French pastries will be given out for free at participating locations during the 7th annual Macaron Day.

NYC’s first ever Macaron Day was in 2010. Dreamed up by Francois Payard, the chef and owner of FP Patisserie, Francois Payard Bakery and Payard Patisserie & Bistro, it was inspired by Paris’ Jour du Macaron in Paris, where the pastry is also honored.

Each participating bakery will be giving out one macaron per customer, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., or until supplies run out. If you decide one just isn’t enough, buy some more. Some of the bakeries are donating a portion of their macaron sales to the non-profit organization, City Harvest, a food rescue organization in NYC.
