Call it a donut or a doughnut but Friday, June 3, is National Doughnut Day! There are so many ways to celebrate, but we think free doughnuts are probably the best way.

So while you could indulge in the city's best doughnuts, you may also just want to get in on the freebie action.

National Doughnut Day is not just one of those made up food holidays. In 1938, it was founded by The Salvation Army to honor the men and women who served the sugary, circular treats to soldiers during World War I.
