The beach is great and all, but there's no annoying sand at a pool. And at public beaches, alcohol is not permitted - same thing with public pools. So where does that leave us?

Luckily, in New York City there are a handful of hotel's that open up their pools to non-guests. These are pool parties at their finest: cocktails and all.

Rooftop Pool at Gansevoort Park Avenue

The public can purchase a daycation pass for $300 that will provide access to the pool from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., as well as include a poolside cocktail, pool day kit featuring hair and beauty products from Bumble and bumble, a poolside reflexology treatment, a 30-minute massage on the rooftop and 10% off a post-pool blowout from GLAMSQUAD (must book 48 hours in advance). Summer Pool Parties at Jimmy at the James SoHo

The rooftop pool and lounge at this SoHo hotel is open seven days a week primarily to guests, but on weekends from 3-7 p.m., the public is invited to join the fun at its summer pool parties. The Hudson River serves as a backdrop while sipping on specialty cocktails ($17) and sharing snacks such as chicken empanadas ($16-$25) and cheeseburger sliders ($17-$32) while a DJ spins. La Piscine at Hotel Americano

The High Line, Empire State Building and Hudson
The High Line, Empire State Building and Hudson River can all be seen from the casual and chic rooftop pool. The pool is open to the public first-come, first-served Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for a $40 day pass, and on weekends from 2 p.m.- midnight for free. La Piscines Mediterranean grill is open weekdays from 5 p.m.-midnight, Saturday from noon-midnight and Sunday from noon-11 p.m. Sip on cocktails such as La Flaca, a frozen margarita with jalapeno-infused Dobel Tequila ($17), while chowing down on branzino ($39) or a burger ($24) from the grill. The pool is open to the public daily from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., with day passes (11 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) costing $45 Monday-Thursday and $60 Friday-Sunday and evening passes (5-9 p.m.) available for $30 (there will be special rates for July 4 and Sept. 7).
