Ladies and gentlemen, this is the unhealthiest restaurant meal in America.
Red Robin’s monster meal -- an A.1. Peppercorn gourmet burger with two 6 oz. beef patties, unlimited steak fries and a Monster Salted Caramel Milkshake -- has won the dubious honor in the Center for Science in the Public Interest’s annual Xtreme Eating Awards.
The report compares the 3,540-calorie meal -- nearly two days’ worth of calories for the average person -- to “eating seven McDonald’s Double Cheeseburgers washed down with a quart of Coke.” Working it off is as simple as a brisk 12-hour walk, the report says.
One of the worst offenders was The Cheesecake Factory, which took three of nine “awards.” The restaurant chain’s Bruleed French toast packs in 2,780 calories and 93 grams of saturated fat. The dish is served with grilled French bread that is baked, topped with powdered sugar and served with maple butter syrup alongside bacon or grilled ham.
Other restaurants called out in this year’s awards include Famous Dave’s, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Chevy’s Fresh Mex, Joe’s Crab Shack and Maggiano’s Little Italy.
