"Hairspray" director-choreographer Adam Shankman, a judge on the Fox series "So You Think You Can Dance," has entered rehab for an unspecified issue.

Shankman, 49, "is currently seeking treatment in a rehabilitation center," his representative said in a statement to Us Weekly. "His friends and family support him and wish him well on his journey to recovery."

The magazine said Shankman appeared to be in good spirits as late as Sunday evening at the Hollywood Palladium, where he attended the semiannual event TrevorLIVE, hosted by the LGBT-youth support organization The Trevor Project. He posted an Instagram photo of himself with "Glee" stars Darren Criss and Jane Lynch and singer Adam Lambert.

Shankman, who has choreographed dozens of movies, broke into directing with the 2001 Jennifer Lopez-Matthew McConaughey film "The Wedding Planner."

His other work as a director includes the three "Step Up" dance films and last year's "Rock of Ages."
