Great after-hours BBQ deals
The Laila Lounge on N 7th Street in Williamsburg offers free BBQ on Sundays from 3-10pm. The grilling is do-it-yourself style but the meat, fixins and condiments are on the house. (Kristy May, Newsday / August 23, 2007)
The lazy days of summer are almost over, but never fear. You can still get your barbecue on until the end of September at these area hotspots.
The Delancey
168 Delancey btwn Attorney and Clinton Streets Lower East Side 212-254-9920

Metropolitan
559 Lorimer Street btwn Metropolitan Ave and Devoe Streets Williamsburg
718-599-4444
Shoot pool and crank up the 80s pop-friendly jukebox inside this low-key bar. But don¹t miss the ample barbecue spread -- burgers (veggie and meat), potato salad, and baked beans -- in the vine-covered backyard. Eight-dollar pitchers of beer and $6 daiquiris and Pina Coladas make the party complete.
Sundays from 5 until around 10, free but tips are appreciated

228 Atlantic Avenue btwn Court Street and Boerum Place Cobble Hill 718-488-0430
Cobble Hill residents flock to this hangout every Monday for owner Lou Sones' savory free chicken wings. The recipe changes every couple months, but spicy, jerk chicken wings are currently on deck. On Saturdays, the barkeep offers a surprise BBQ stew for meat-eaters and a vegetarian option such as veggie chili for non-carnivores.
Free chicken wings Monday from five until they run out; $5 stew BBQ on Saturdays from 2 p.m. til around midnight, ongoing
Laila Lounge
113 N. 7th Street btwn Berry and Wythe Streets Williamsburg 718-486-6791
Laila's 'Bloody's and BBQ' Sundays attract club kids hungry for free hot dogs and veggie dogs (not mention cool DJ sets). The place is also packed with eclectic locals who want to chill in the backyard and sip on $4 Bloody Marys. If you¹re lucky, you¹ll pop in on a Sunday when a guest grill master is cooking up gourmet grub -- calamari kebobs, anyone? -- for only $5 a plate.
Sundays from 3 til around 10, free
