The movie: A report card
Kim Cattrall (left) stars as "Samantha Jones", Cynthia Nixon (center left) stars as "Miranda Hobbes", Kristin Davis (center right) stars as "Charlotte York-Goldenblatt", and Sarah Jessica Parker (right) stars as "Carrie Bradshaw" in New Line Cinema's upcoming release of SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE. (Craig Blankenhorn/New Line Cinema)
Am New York's Julie Gordon saw the movie last week, and we asked her what she thought of it.
So, what about the sex? I didn't think there was as much of it as there was on TV. The girls are older, and they're not going out and meeting random guys.
How are the clothes? Amazing. Over the top. Extravagant. Lots of color.
Better than the TV show? They were every bit as good -- and Miranda seemed to be a little more stylish.
Any plot surprises? Lots of them. But if we told what they were, they wouldn't be surprises.
Does the city play as big a part in it as it did in the TV show? No. It doesn't. We don't see quite as many recognizable bars and restaurants.
Will the movie inspire as many young women to move to New York? Maybe. Carrie's assistant is new to the city. But the characters are older, and they're a little more low-key.
Are the apartments better or worse? Better. Except maybe Miranda's place.
What are the girls drinking these days. Cosmopolitans. Still.
What about the guys? Big is still gorgeous. Harry -- well, you don't really want to look at him. Steve is adorable. Smith Jerrod looks great -- a touch older and he has different hair. But still great.
Bottom line: Worth wasting a summer night and $10 on? Definitely
