Accessories that enhance the glow
Looking your best at your wedding does not end with finding the perfect dress. From what goes on your head to what you slip your feet into, flattering accessories that complement the gown is paramount in achieving the effervescent glow every bride should have on her special day.
Let's start with the veil. When it comes to these delicate addendums, think about proportion.
"Veils should be in proportion to your height, and to the style of gown you'll be wearing," said Millie Martini Bratten, editor-in-chief of BRIDES magazine.
If the gown is shorter or the bride is petite, the veil should flow just around her shoulders perfectly framing her face and allowing the dress no distractions.
For jewelry, think of classic styles with infinite wearbility. Mara Ursul, owner of Kleinfeld bridal shop, swears by the importance of wearing earrings. "They will instantly remind the bride of one of the most important, memorable, and beautiful days of her life," she said.
For shoes, style is important, but so is being able to walk and dance. "Remember that the bride will be on her feet most of her wedding day so comfort is an absolute must," Ursul said.
When trying on shoes, test their comfort by taking a stroll around the store. If they feel tight or uncomfortable then, they'll feel even tighter and more uncomfortable after five hours of wear.
Another tip? "If they're new, scuff the soles with a bit of sandpaper to avoid sliding as you walk down the aisle," Bratten said.
