Demi Lovato says she will be taking a break from the public in 2017, Entertainment Weekly reports.
“So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight. I am not meant for this business and the media,” she tweeted on Tuesday.
Lovato has spent most of 2016 promoting her 2015 album “Confident,” and touring with Nick Jonas.
Lovato did not say what she’ll be doing next year. But she did post this tweet to a fan who asked her, “are you coming back?”: “It doesn’t feel worth it anymore. I’d rather do charity work tbh [to be honest].”
Meanwhile, Lovato generated substantial social media buzz Tuesday when she spoke out about celebrity “squads” in an interview with Glamour.
The 24-year-old singer referenced Taylor Swift’s group of friends and said, “I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real.”
