Ellie Kemper announces she’s pregnant on ‘The Tonight Show’

Actress-comedian Ellie Kemper had a huge announcement during her appearance on Wednesday’s “The Tonight Show.” “I have big news. I’m pregnant!” the star of Netflix’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” told host Jimmy Fallon, Newsday contributor Frank Lovece reports.

This is the first child for Kemper, 35, and writer Michael Koman, whom she married in July 2012. “It didn’t really affect filming until the very end” of production of Season 2, which premieres Friday. “We had a table read and I saw that my character was supposed to be on a roller coaster . . . and it was still very early on, but I felt like a pregnant lady on a roller coaster isn’t ideal,” she said.

Kemper then told series co-creator Tina Fey about her condition (“I told her before I told my mom!”), but since it was too early to announce broadly, they told the crew Kemper had a back injury so the scene could be rewritten.
