Iggy Azalea, Nick Young call off engagement; she cites trust issues

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea and Los Angeles Lakers star Nick Young have called off their year-old engagement.

“Unfortunately although I love Nick and have tried and tried to rebuild my trust in him — [it’s] become apparent in the last few weeks [I] am unable to,” Azalea, 26, posted on Instagram Sunday. “I genuinely wish Nick the best. It’s never easy to part ways with the person you planned [your] entire future with, but futures can be rewritten and as of today mine is a blank page.”

Young, 31, who also goes by the nickname Swaggy P, wrote on Twitter simply, “Single.”

In March, a 44-second video recorded by Lakers rookie point guard D’Angelo Russell surfaced in which Young appears to admit to recently cheating on Azalea, at one point mentioning a 19-year-old woman. After the video went viral, Azalea joked about it, tweeting on March 30, “hmmm i see D Angelo Russell is trending . . . I actually liked his film. Thanks bro.” Days later, in response to a fan offering to “call a U-Haul” to remove Young’s items from her home, she answered, “lol, errrrr…. nick and i are good babe.”

Young became engaged to “Fancy” singer Azalea at a party last June 1 for his 30th birthday, with singer-actress Demi Lovato among the friends in attendance. Jeannie Mai, of the syndicated talk show “The Real,” posted an Instagram photo of the proposal, writing, “His bday. Her #happilyeverafter. That face… … #Congrats.” The couple had been together for a year and a half.
