Katy Perry confirms Taylor Swift feud, says she’s ready for it ‘to be done’

Singer Katy Perry has confirmed long-standing rumors that she and fellow pop star Taylor Swift do indeed have “Bad Blood” between them.

On “The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special” Monday night, Perry, 32, responded to host James Corden’s inquiry about the purported feud by saying, “That’s true. There’s a situation.” She went on to say that Swift had “started it and it’s time for her to finish it.”

Swift had said in a 2014 Rolling Stone interview that her song “Bad Blood” was about an unnamed singer at the same arena-concert level of stardom. “For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” Swift said. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’” She went on to say, “So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

The feud apparently escalated when, according to Rolling Stone, a trio of dancers on Swift’s Red World Tour who had previously performed on Perry’s California Dreams tour abruptly left the former singer’s trek for the latter’s Prismatic tour. The three backup dancers quit during the middle of Swift’s 2013-14 tour.

“I tried to talk to her about it and she, she wouldn’t speak to me,” Perry told Corden, adding, “It was a full shutdown and then she writes a song about me. And I’m, like, ‘Okay, cool, cool, cool. That’s how you want to deal with it? Karma.’”

Perry insisted, “I’m ready for that BS to be done. Now.” But, she said, “There is the law of cause and effect. You do something and there’s gonna be a reaction. And trust me, daddy, there’s gonna be a reaction,” she said, explaining, “It’s all about karma, right?”

She lamented to Corden, “I think, personally, that women together — not divided and, like, none of this petty [expletive] — women together will heal the world.”

Corden then asked whether Perry would consider the beef ended if she got a text from Swift discussing the situation. “Absolutely,” the singer replied. “One hundred percent.”
