Lindsay Lohan claims in interview fiance has been abusive

Following a highly public argument late last month, Lindsay Lohan claims that her estranged fiance, Russian heir Egor Tarabasov, has been physically abusive.

In an interview conducted at a hotel in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, and published Sunday in the British newspaper the Daily Mail, the 30-year-old actress said, “I realize now you can’t stay in a relationship just for love,” adding, “No woman can be hit and stay with that person if that person isn’t prepared to say sorry.” Accompanying the interview are newly released photos of Tarabasov with Lohan on a beach in Mykonos in early July, manhandling her after, she says, he “drank too much and he went crazy.”

Lohan, raised in Cold Spring Harbor and Merrick, revealed that she and Tarabasov have “been together nine months, three weeks and two days, and we’ve lived together since the second night I met him.” She added, “’He proposed on September 27, 2015, but I waited months before saying anything publicly.” They were planning, she said, to marry at Lake Como in northern Italy in May.

“All I wanted was to get married and settle down,” Lohan said. “I’ve always wanted four kids and Egor and I talked about having a family.” She continues to wear the four-carat emerald ring with which Tarabasov proposed. “The truth is,” she said, “I wanted to make things work, but now I’m not sure that I can.”

The “Mean Girls” star was captured on video loudly arguing with Tarabasov at her London home in the early-morning hours of July 23, screaming, “Egor, you’ve been strangling me constantly. . . . You can’t strangle a woman constantly and beat the out of her and think it’s OK. Everybody saw you touch me. It’s filmed. Get out! Get out!” She left shortly thereafter to spend time with friends on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia.

She has not seen him since the argument, the paper said, but recently contacted him, asking to meet. “I need closure,” she explained. “I genuinely fell in love with him but he broke my trust and made me feel unsafe. I know I’m not an angel but I’ve tried to fix things. It’s down to him now. I had suggested we go for couples’ counseling but there comes a time when I have to put myself first, my family, and also think about my career which I’ve worked so hard for.”
