Juan Pablo Galavis, star of the most recent edition of "The Bachelor," and Nikki Ferrell, whom he choose in the finale but without proposing marriage, reportedly have broken up.

On her Instagram page Sunday, Ferrell posted a sentiment from the stock-quote site Kushandwizdom.tumblr.com reading, "Isn't it pathetic how we waste so much time on certain people and in the end they prove that they weren't even worth a second of it." She added the comment, "Nope not one single second."

People magazine noted that Ferrell, a Kansas City, Missouri, pediatric nurse, unfollowed Galavis on both Instagram and Twitter before posting the quote. Galavis, 33, unfollowed and refollowed Ferrell at least twice Sunday and Monday, the magazine said.

Us Weekly said Monday that Ferrell, whose age it gave as 27, instigated the split.

Galavis tweeted Sunday, "Sometimes you WIN, sometimes you LOSE . . . You will ALWAYS learn . . . " -- though he followed this with "Who will WIN and who will LEARN tonight, @SFGiants or @Royals?"

Tensions in the relationship were evident during the couple's appearance on VH1's reality show "Couples Therapy" in an episode that aired Oct. 8. When pressed by a therapist, Galavis conceded, "I can say, 'Yeah, I'm falling for her big time.' But do I love her? As to tell her, 'I love you?' Nah." That hit Ferrell hard. "When am I going to be good enough?" she demanded, later adding, "I can't get through to him, and if a professional can't crack Juan Pablo, then maybe this just isn't for me."

An ABC spokeswoman for "The Bachelor" passed along a request for comment to production company Warner Bros. Worldwide Television, whose spokeswoman told Newsday, "We have no comment with regards to Juan Pablo and Nikki."

"The Bachelor" is a production of Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television, a division of Warner Bros. Worldwide Television.
