On Friday night, Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas hit Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the fifth stop on their “Future Now” tour. Prior to the show, Jonas had hinted to fans on social media that surprises would be in store for the New York audience, and surprises there were. Here are the top five biggest moments from Friday’s show:
Hip-hop recording artist and Brooklyn native came out on stage during Lovato’s set to perform his recent hit, “Panda.” The anticipation in the room could be felt as she asked the crowd if they wanted a special guest before going on to say that this guest was from Brooklyn himself. Fans went crazy while Jonas and Lovato hung out in the background.
2. Jamie Foxx
Later in the show, as Lovato performed her latest ballad, "Stone Cold," none other than Jamie Foxx could be seen playing the piano for her. Jonas had been the pianist on the song on previous tour dates, so when Lovato announced at the end of the song who it had really been the whole time, the crowd was in for a surprise. Foxx then took the spotlight to perform his 2005 hit, “Gold Digger" -- sans Kanye West.
3. Forgotten words
Lovato proved that it can happen to the best of us when she started off the show singing the wrong words to her song “Confident" as she graced the stage on an elevated platform wearing a black leather bodysuit. Following her lyric mistake, Lovato continued to sing all the right words and act as if nothing had even happened.
4. Nick Jonas/Demi Lovato collaboration
Jonas has been getting a ton of airplay lately with his newest song, “Close," featuring Tove Lo. On Friday, Lovato chimed in with Lo’s parts for the song at the end of Jonas’ second set. Fans know their "Future Now" tour isn't the first time the duo have sung together. The former Disney kids have a long history, dating back to their 2008 Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock.” Lovato opened for The Jonas Brothers on their tours in 2008, 2009 and 2010, and Nick Jonas and brothers Kevin and Joe have been featured on Lovato songs including “On the Line," from her 2008 album, "Don't Forget."
5. Mike Posner
You may know him as the voice behind “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” or “Cooler Than Me.” He’s the tour opener and sang both of these hits in his set. Posner collaborated on a song with Jonas for a song titled “Closer,” and throughout the night, both Jonas and Lovato made sure to make reference to Posner’s performance.
