While we’re still trying to all agree on the words to describe Lady Gaga’s “Sound of Music” tribute at Sunday night’s Oscars (I loved it, some of my friends despised it), Julie Andrews knew just what she wanted to say about it.
In a statement yesterday to Access Hollywood, Andrews said, “I was deeply honored by the Academy’s lovely tribute to ‘The Sound of Music,’ and especially touched by Lady Gaga’s wonderful performance.”
Awww! Seriously, Andrews is a legend, and such a class act. But what she said next will make your heart melt.
“I have always been a fan, but last night we bonded and now I have a new friend,” Andrews said of Gaga.
Gaga’s tribute was a medley performance of some of the film’s most beloved songs, including “The Sound of Music,” “Do Re Mi,” “Edelweiss,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” after which Andrews and Gaga hugged it out.
