Madonna will hit the road to promote her upcoming “Rebel Heart” album, including stops at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 16 and Barclays Center on Sept. 19.

Tickets for the tour go on sale on March 9, the day before “Rebel Heart” is released, through Ticketmaster. Pre-sale tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday for Citi cardholders through the Citi Private Pass program.

“Madonna continues to be one of the most successful touring artists in history,” Arthur Fogel, Live Nation’s president of global touring said in a statement. “Her shows are legendary and we are thrilled to have her going back on tour.”

The “Rebel Heart” tour will be Madonna’s first in three years, since her “MDNA Tour,” which she rehearsed at Nassau Coliseum. That 2012 tour became the year's top-grossing tour, earning nearly $300 million.

Her performance at the Brit Awards last week offered a peek into her plans and is still generating headlines, after her fall from the stage when her dancers yanked on her cape before she could untie it from her neck.

“The universe was, I don’t know, trying to teach me a lesson, I guess,” Madonna told ITV’s Jonathan Ross, adding that she hit her head in the fall and suffered a bit of whiplash.
