Nicki Minaj drops surprise single, shout-outs gorilla Harambe

Hip-hop star Nicki Minaj dropped a surprise new single Sunday, giving shout-outs not only to fellow rappers Lil Wayne, Foxy Brown and boyfriend Meek Mill, but also unsympathetically to Harambe, the Western lowland gorilla killed at the Cincinnati Zoo in May to protect a 3-year-old boy who had climbed into his enclosure.

On “The Pinkprint Freestyle,” released on SoundCloud, Minaj, 33, sings “I’m dragging these [expletives] like Harambe did the kid.”

Video of the incident shows the gorilla twice dragging the child through a moat.

The unidentified boy was recovered safely after Harambe was shot and killed by the zoo’s Dangerous Animal Response Team, a conclusion that engendered controversy.
