Camelot Lerner and Loewe's classic musical of politics, chivalry and a tragic love triangle that destroys a medieval kingdom is being presented by the New York Philharmonic as a semi-staged concert through this weekend. The cast includes Gabriel Byrne, Marin Mazzie, Christopher Lloyd, Nathan Gunn and even Fran Drescher. Hopes are high that it will live up to last year's excellent "My Fair Lady" concert. (Matt Windman) Avery Fisher Hall, 10 Lincoln Center Plaza, 212-875-5656. $65. Fri-Sat 8pm. Thru Sat.
Broadway By the Year 1965 Town Hall's beloved "Broadway By the Year" series continues its march through the decades with a night dedicated to 1965. Its musicals include "Man of La Mancha," "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" and "Do I Hear a Waltz?" The cast includes Brian d'Arcy James, Gregg Edelman, Julia Murney and Marc Kudisch. (Matt Windman) Town Hall, 123 West 43rd St, 212-307-4100. Mon 8pm.
The Sound and the Fury If you have never read William Faulkner's novel "The Sound and the Fury," Elevator Repair Service's show probably won't make any sense. And even if you have read it, you still might find it odd and tedious. Instead of dramatizing the story, an ensemble merely recites the entire first chapter. But in spite of its stream-of-conscious style, it is meticulously staged, emphasizing slapstick comedy, teamwork and a highly developed style of choreography. (Matt Windman) New York Theatre Workshop, 79 East 4th St, 212-239-6200, $20-50. Fri-Sat 8pm, Sun 2 & 7pm. Thru May 18.
The Castle You can't help but admire the four writer-performers of "The Castle," who are also ex-convicts who have found new hope through living at an Upper West side residential facility. While this documentary theater piece details each of their life stories, the straightforward testimony the quartet gives simply does not translate into a theatrically engaging experience. (Theatermania) New World Stages, 340 West 50th St, 212-239-6200, $30-45. Sat-Sun 5pm. Open Run.
