Bill and Turner Ross’ documentary film “Contemporary Color” starring David Byrne premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 14, 2016. We asked the filmmaking team of two brothers to weigh in on the film festival and the city in which it takes place.
What does the Tribeca Film Festival mean to you?
Tribeca offers us a unique opportunity to present our work in the place of its origins. The film takes place at the Barclays Center in New York, to a New York audience, composed of teams from the region, with many artists who call this place home. It also marks a first for us – our own Tribeca premiere.
Has New York City inspired your work in any way?
New York became the defacto setting for this film – the actual setting of the show, and the symbolic “big city” that these performers were descending upon.
What’s your favorite restaurant in NYC?
The Cottage.
Yellow cab, Uber or subway?
Depends on the situation. Uber has become pretty handy, but the subway might get you there faster, and we’re suckers for a yellow cab.
Why should Tribeca audiences see your film/project?
You’re not gonna see anything else like this.
