‘Wedding Crashers’ sequel in early development, reports say

More than a decade after the original, a sequel to the comedy hit, “Wedding Crashers,” is in early development, Newsday contributor Frank Lovece reports.

Entertainment Weekly said Tuesday that one of the original film’s stars, Isla Fisher, told “Today” fellow star Vince Vaughn had said a sequel might be in the works. The magazine then confirmed that New Line Cinema had hired screenwriters Evan Susser and Van Robichaux to pen a script.

“Wedding Crashers,” released in 2005, starred Vaughn and Owen Wilson as two bachelors who serially sneak into wedding receptions in order to meet women.

Made on a $40 million budget, the R-rated comedy grossed $285 million worldwide. Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken, Jane Seymour and Bradley Cooper also starred.
