How do I get access to the amNewYork app?
The amNewYork app is available at no charge. To access the app fill out a quick, one-time registration form after launching the app.
Where do I find today’s edition of the paper?
The latest print replica edition is accessible when you first launch the app or by clicking on the Archive or Reader buttons in the bottom nav. You have the ability to read the edition online while connected to the internet or to download the edition or selected pages to read offline.
How do I use the “Reader”?
You can swipe from page to page, tap the arrows to go from page to page or jump to the beginning or end. You can skip to a specific page by tapping on the top bar between the forward and back arrows. This will bring up a box that allows you to enter a specific page number and go directly to that page.
How do I download an edition?
You can download an edition on the iPad by clicking on the Download button in the Archive area or clicking on the Menu button in the top left corner of the edition and then clicking on Download This Edition. The edition will begin downloading and you can follow its progress on the Downloads page. The edition will pause downloading when the app goes into the background on into sleep mode.
You can download an edition on the iPhone by clicking on the Download button from the archive area or by clicking on the Menu button and choosing Download This Edition.
How do I navigate through pages or archived editions?
Once in the latest print replica edition on the iPad, there are two buttons labeled Archive and Pages in the top left, which will bring up a scrollable list of pages or past editions of the paper. There is no pages functionality on the iPhone.
Can I search for content in the paper?
You can go under the Options button on the iPad and click Search. That allows you to search by keyword either in that day’s edition or in all editions. Click on the results to bring back the page with the story you are searching for.
Can I share content?
You can share using Facebook, Twitter or email.
Where can I read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service?
You can access the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service in the Settings section in the navigation at the bottom of the screen.
How can I submit feedback about the app?
You can submit feedback and contact Newsday by tapping on the Settings section in the navigation at the bottom of the screen and then tapping on Feedback.
How do I remove the amNewYork app from my device?
You can remove the amNewYork app the way you remove other applications. Touch and hold the amNewYork iPad or iPhone application icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the X in the corner of the icon. When the confirm deletion message appears, tap “delete”.
