Hot Halloween costumes
The perfect costume, whether you're a pop culture junkie or a history buff
MARIE ANTOINETTE: France’s iconic queen who met her fate at the guillotine is a costume befitting of any stylish history buff. Enhance the Halloween gore with some fake blood along your neck and face, and since you can’t tote around a faux guillotine all night, look sharp with an ax. On Georgia Kral: dress, $29.99; wig, $14.99; ax, $5.99; at Ricky’s Tribeca (375 Broadway, 212-925-5490). (Credit: Jennifer S. Altman)
PREGNANT KIM KARDASHIAN AND KANYE WEST: Kim and Kanye may be parents now (to daughter North West), but the best pop culture-inspired couple’s costume this Halloween is definitely a pregnant Kim with her man. Here, we channel the print look Kim wore to the 2013 Met Ball, but any form-fitting outfit, plus some stuffing in the middle, works. He can dress things up in a blazer or dare to bare in a leather skirt. Shades are a must. On Julie Gordon: vintage jumpsuit, $49.99; pregnant belly, $15.99; wig, $19.99. On Tim Herrera: glasses, $5.99; at Ricky’s Tribeca (375 Broadway, 212-925-5490). (Credit: Jennifer S. Altman)
WALTER WHITE FROM AMC’S ‘BREAKING BAD’: With the end this year of one of TV’s hottest shows comes one of this year’s hottest Halloween costumes: Walter White. Amp up the “Bad” factor with a creative sidekick to your meth-cooking Walter: Have a partner, pal or pet dress as blue meth by donning all blue. Blood money — fake bills covered in red — completes the costume. On Dan Rivoli: jumpsuit, $39.99; bald cap, $4; facial hair, $11.99; at Ricky’s Tribeca (375 Broadway, 212-925-5490). ‘GREAT GATSBY’-INSPIRED FLAPPER America got “Gatsby” fever this year when Baz Luhrmann’s film version of the Roaring Twenties-set classic hit theaters — especially over the fashions. A “Gatsby”-inspired costume is perfect for the sophisticated gal heading to an ultra-glam party this Halloween. For gents, a tux or black suit, plus some sleekly styled tresses, is perfect. On Julie Gordon: dress, $69.99; headpiece, $4.99; boa, $9.99; at Ricky’s Tribeca (375 Broadway, 212-925-5490). (Credit: Jennifer S. Altman)
CARD SHARK: Any guy who’s a poker player — or just likes the high-style look of a wheeler and dealer — should don this sleek costume. Bonus points if you actually learn a few card tricks before Halloween. On Tim Herrera: costume (vest, shirt, pants hat and accessories), $69.99; at Ricky’s Tribeca (375 Broadway, 212-925-5490) (Credit: Jennifer S. Altman)
