Labor Dept. offers details on new COBRA subsidy
As with any new statutes, the federal stimulus package signed into law Feb. 17 has a lot of provisions people are still sorting out.
The U.S. Labor Department hopes to speed the process along for workers who want help with expensive COBRA costs. So today the departments Employee Benefits Security
Administration published a summary of the new, temporary COBRA provisions.
Under the stimulus plan, the government will subsidize 65 percent of the COBRA insurance premimums of qualifying unemployed workers for up to nine months.
