Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 5 NYFW show was surprisingly low-key

Kanye West presented Yeezy Season 5 during New York Fashion Week on Wednesday — and it went off without a hitch, surprisingly.

Images of models were projected on four-sided screens in the blacked-out venue. It gave attendees (absolutely packed to the rafters) a chance to get a close look at the just fine, more than serviceable street clothes collection that included big bomber jackets, anoraks, hoodies, beyond thigh-high boots, track pants, denim, shearling-lined jackets, loads of camo and one gigantic fur coat worn by model Halima Aden in a hijab. (She was born in a Kenyan refugee camp.)

Celebrities Kim Kardashian West and Kylie Jenner, rapper Tyga, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and model Hailey Baldwin were among the show’s front-row attendees.

The collection was shown in Pier 59 Studios at Chelsea Piers – a rather safe location for Kanye considering his bizarre September show, which shuttled guests to Roosevelt Island.

Rumors flew before the show that the designer may have been planning to drop a new track. No such song was revealed during the presentation, but some of the looks were embroidered with the words “Lost Hills,” in homage, we suspect, to his hinted album collab with Drake.

Live models came out at the end, taking a brief walk around the space, and then the crowd waited for Kanye. Waited. Waited.

Kardashian West, dressed in burgundy satin, decided to wait no more and headed backstage. She beckoned Wintour, who bolted out behind her. The end.
