Madison Beer, a Long Island singer discovered by Justin Bieber, is set for a hearty fashion debut.
The teen from Jericho, NY makes her fashion week debut Thursday night when she walks in the Red Dress show, the American Heart Association’s annual Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection show at Skylight at Moynihan Station in Manhattan.
Beer, 16, will wear a dress by Halston Heritage, an asymmetrical design with a belted waist and high slit. Sharing the runway: Candace Cameron Bure, Florence Henderson, Marilu Henner, Fran Drescher, Skylar Diggins, Tamron Hall and Vanna White in dresses by, among others, Badgley Mischka, Pamella Roland, Nicole Miller and Marchesa.
Beer’s massive social media fan base — she has roughly 5.8 million followers between her Twitter and Instagram accounts — helped Beer land a spot on the stage.
“They had said they were impressed with my social media presence and loved the music I’ve created so far,” says Beer. “The cause is obviously the most important thing to me.” The Red Dress show raises awareness about heart disease in women.
Although Beer will be making her fashion week debut tonight, it does not signal that she has abandoned her music career.
“My main interest in life is being a recording artist,” says Beer, who has been a rising star since Bieber noted her covers of popular songs on YouTube and helped her land a deal with Island Records. “I am in the studio about three times a week working with different producers, writers and DJs,” she says. “Fashion and modeling are my second love.”
As to how she’s prepared for fashion week, Beer says she’s studied some of the pros.
“I’ve practiced in the mirror a bit and watched some runway shows on the computer to try and pick up some tips.”
