‘Fashion Lives: Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis’: Get to know the industry’s biggest names in new book

Many a fashion tome claims to bring readers inside the world of fashion, but trust us; there is arguably no better guide than Fern Mallis to take you there.

Mallis, the award-winning creator of New York Fashion Week, fashion industry veteran and icon herself, has, since 2011, been hosting a series of in-depth interviews with fashion’s brightest lights — luminaries including Tom Ford, Donna Karan and Bruce Weber — to sell-out crowds at the 92nd Street Y.

These no-holds-barred tête-à-têtes are the basis of her new book, “Fashion Lives:  Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis” ($55, Rizzoli, New York).

The 19 interviews alone are provocative, funny and profound, but in addition to Mallis’ insightful questions and some surprisingly revealing answers, there are many personal photographs from the interviewees in the hard cover book– some never before released.

Mallis paints a vivid picture of the inner workings of the fashion industry and offers unprecedented entrée into the minds of the people who make it great.   And, added bonus, there’s even a foreword by Ralph Lauren.
