Asiana Airlines might sue TV station, NTSB
Asiana Airlines says it's weighing legal action against a California TV station and the National Transportation Safety Board after the Fox affiliate reported inaccurate, racially offensive names for the pilots in the fatal plane crash in San Francisco.
On Friday, an anchor for Oakland, Calif., station KTVU read the supposed names of the pilots of the South Korean carrier during a broadcast after an employee apparently called the NTSB seeking to verify them.
"The reputation of the four pilots and of the company had been seriously damaged by this report," Asiana said Sunday.
KTVU and the NTSB have apologized. It was unclear where the names originated. An NTSB spokeswoman said an intern mistakenly confirmed the names.
The crash killed three teenage girls from China.
