A 5-year-old boy was attacked by the family dog in his Brooklyn home Friday night and was in critical condition in a hospital, the NYPD said.

The boy was with two other children in their Riverdale Avenue home when the family pit bull bit him about 6:45 p.m., police said.

The youngster was rushed to the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park.

The Animal Care Centers of New York City took the dog to its Manhattan shelter, police said.

Other details on what happened in before and during the attack were not immediately available Friday night, police said. The dog’s fate was not immediately known, police said.
