City to get socked by snow Tuesday morning

Let it snow!

The city is expected to get up to four inches of snow today, beginning right in time for the morning commute, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow is expected to start between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., according to National Weather Service meteorologist Joe Pollina. “The snow will become steadier and heavier as the morning continues,” he said last night. The snow shower is expected to be over by late afternoon, with temperatures topping in the low 30s.

Pollina said it was unlikely the city would see snow again until at least Saturday, but he said temperatures would get colder throughout the week.

The city’s sanitation department issued a “snow alert” beginning at 6 a.m., with workers preparing salt spreaders and plows. The MTA also said it was ready for the storm.
