Artem G. Ayzen, of Brooklyn, killed in Stony Brook hit-and-run, police say
A Stony Brook University grad student was killed Wednesday night, struck by a hit-and-run driver as he skated on North Country Road in Stony Brook, police said.
Artem G. Ayzen, 25, of Brooklyn, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by Stony Brook Rescue after the accident, but died of his injuries, Suffolk County police said.
Police said Ayzen was in-line-skating on North Country at 10:55 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle described as "a dark-colored SUV."
The driver then fled the scene, police said.
Police said investigators believe the vehicle has front-end damage, but did not immediately provide more information.
