The presidential campaign has seen its fair share of anti-Donald Trump protests.
But one planned for this Saturday has a decidedly different feel.
A rally of New Yorkers named Trump but unrelated to the Donald is set for 1 p.m. at Union Square Park on Saturday.
The event’s organizer Maxine Trump, a filmmaker who moved from England to New York 13 years ago, said the 10 people who have so far planned to come have been subjected to jokes and faulty assumptions that they will vote for the controversial real estate mogul.
“I used to be absolutely fine when I came into the country and went to the TSA agents and [they] asked if I was related,” she said. “Now it’s embarrassing and I feel humiliated.”
Maxine Trump, who said she is considering taking her husband’s name, said she hopes people can come to understand the struggle the other namessakes will have to endure for the rest of their lives.
“That’s part of the experience – to find out how really alone we are,” she said.
