Fire rips through Hunts Point Terminal Market

A four-alarm fire destroyed at least one building at the Hunts Point Terminal Market in the Bronx yesterday, injuring 12 firefighters as they battled the blaze, according to officials.

The blaze started around 11 a.m. and quickly engulfed the market, and about 200 firefighters were on scene, the FDNY said..

Some 50 businesses are housed in the market, which is the world’s largest wholesale produce market.

It’s unclear how the fire started but officials are investigating.
