Ashley Alexandra Dupre is Eliot Spitzer's 'Kristen'

Ashley Alexandra Dupre, a former nightclub waitress living in NYC has reportedly been identified as "Kristen," the call girl at the center of the Eliot Spitzer scandal.

Eliot Spitzer's big-bucks hooker is a 22-year-old Jersey girl who comes from a broken home and aspires to be a singer.

"What destroys me, strengthens me," is the quote featured on Ashley Alexandra Dupre's MySpace page, which she kept up yesterday. It doesn't quite make sense, but neither do her extracurricular activities.

"This has been a very difficult time," Dupre, the Emperors Club V.I.P. prostitute known as "Kristen," told The New York Times. "It is complicated." Dupre's liaisons with Spitzer via the high-end escort service have contributed to the ruin of the 48-year-old married governor's political career, not to mention his home life.

"I just don't want to be thought of as a monster," said Dupre, who was paid about $1,000 an hour for her call-girl services.

Dupre's MySpace page provides a window into her life as she went from a broken home to a music career in New York City.

"I have been alone. I have abused drugs. I have been broke and homeless. But, I survived, on my own. I am here, in NY because of my music," she wrote.

Dupre, however, seems naive about the negative attention surrounding her connection with the disgraced politician. Anyone with a MySpace account is free to peruse her 1,805 friends, music, photos (including one captioned, "Me passed out -- I do that often") and an intimate profile.

Dupre's single, "What We Want," which includes the lyrics, "I know what you need. Can you handle me?" has also been played more than 100,000 times.

A man who answered the phone at her mother's home in New Jersey and identified himself as Dupre's brother told The Associated Press he had no idea why Dupre would agree to be interviewed.

"I've talked to my sister every five minutes since this happened, and I'm not going to comment on it," he said. "She's just trying to get through this."

Dupre, who the Emperors Club hawked as "an American, petite, very pretty brunette, 5-feet-5 inches, and 105 pounds," told the Times she was worried about paying her rent in a ninth-floor Manhattan apartment since her boyfriend recently left her. She said she may move back in with her family in New Jersey.

Dupre's mother, Carolyn Capalbo, said her daughter "is a very bright girl who can handle someone like the governor. But she also is a 22-year-old, not a 32-year-old or a 42-year-old, and she obviously got involved in something much larger than her."

Dupre last rendezvoused with Spitzer on Feb. 13 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., according to a federal affidavit. She told the Times that she's spent the last few days in her rented apartment in the Flatiron district and has slept very little since the scandal broke on Monday.

She declined to comment when asked by the Times when she first met Spitzer and how often they had been together.

Dupre apparently made an appearance in federal court on Monday as a witness in the case against four people accused of operating the prostitution ring.
