Tacos are back at Red Hook Park
Taco-lovers, rejoice.
The Parks Department has approved a six-year permit for the beloved food vendors who serve up authentic Latin American fare at Brooklyn's Red Hook Park soccer field.
Vendors and foodies alike had feared the empanadas, pupusas and corn-husk tamales could disappear from the park, where immigrant sellers have served up spicy fare for
more than three decades.
The Parks Department decided last year that the vendors' temporary permits were no longer sufficient, and said they would have to compete for permanent licenses.
But in the end, they were the vendors' organization was the only applicant, and the group won't be paying much more than before.
