Nassau releases Labor Day weekend 'Wall of Shame'

Nassau County added to its "Wall of Shame" Wednesday, announcing 97 more drunken driving arrests. Click here to see the photos.

Nassau County has only released the names and photographs of 86 of those arrested.

There are three reasons why the number of photos on the Wall of Shame do not equal the number arrested: If the suspects are under 19; if the charge is for driving under the influence and not DWI; and if the suspect is taken to the hospital for treatment.

In its campaign to raise awareness about drunken driving, the county features a photo collection of suspects charged with driving while intoxicated on its Web site, nassaucountyny.gov

Of those arrested from Aug. 27 to Sept. 2, over the Labor Day weekend, 97 people were included in the Wall of Shame.

County Executive Thomas Suozzi has vowed to post mug shots of drunken driving defendants on the county's Web site. Hundreds of photos have been posted since the campaign began with arrests during Memorial Day weekend.
