NYPD looks for suspects in Morrisania, Bronx, attack who beat man with garbage can, shovel

Police were looking for three suspects on Monday who beat a 37-year-old man with a garbage can and a shovel in the Bronx.

The three suspects attacked the man, who they didn’t appear to know, just after 6 p.m. Sunday, near the corner of Union Avenue and East 163 Street in Morrisania, police said.

Photos released Monday show the attack in progress.

In one, two of the suspects appear to be about to stomp on the man’s head as he lies helpless on the ground. A second photo shows on of the suspects kicking him.

The victim was beaten with a metal shovel and a metal garbage can, police said. They then continued to attack as the victim lay in the street, grabbed his wallet and ran.

The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Lincoln Hospital where he was in stable condition.
