NYC events commemorating MLK's death

To mark the 40th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s murder, check out the following on Friday:

- From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., actress and civil rights activist Ruby Dee will be reading King's "Beyond Vietnam" speech calling for an end to the Vietnam War. The event will be held at Westwood Gallery, 568 Broadway at Prince St.

- From 7 a.m. to midnight, WBAI (99.5 FM) is preempting most of its programing with tributes.

- At 7 p.m., WNYC (820 AM) will have a special.

- WINS (1010 AM), WCBS (880 AM), WRKS (98.7 FM) and WBLS (107.5 FM) will offer memorial coverage from Memphis, Tenn.
