Police are using a special drone from the FBI to do aerial surveying of the marshland where jogger Karina Vetrano was found slain, said a law enforcement official.
Officers also began using three dimensional cameras Friday to photograph the route Vetrano took when she set out on her final jog through the neighborhood and a nearby park, officials noted.
Vetrano was strangled and raped Tuesday in a marshy area of Spring Creek Park to the west of her Howard Beach neighborhood.
Officials such as Mayor Bill de Blasio have asked for the public to help the police find Vetrano’s killer.
Cops have been combing the area looking for clues and found a missing jogging shoe of Vetrano’s as well as her headphones, said the official. Both items were within 100 feet of her body.
A wake for the St. John’s University graduate who was 30, is being held Friday at Romanelli-Stephen Funeral Home in Ozone Park. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday at St. Helen Roman Catholic Church in Howard Beach.
