Time to head to the nearest bodega: The Powerball jackpot hit $500 million on Wednesday, hours ahead of the 11 p.m. drawing.
Officials estimate the cash value will be $337.8 million. The last time to buy tickets is Wednesday at 9 p.m. If no one gets all six numbers, the jackpot will go up even more before the next drawing.
This the third-highest Powerball drawing in history. The largest jackpot, $590.5 million, was in May 2013.
Forty-four states plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands all contribute to the Powerball lottery.
Don't get your hopes up too high: Your odds of winning are about 175 million. But that's a chance, right? Be right back, buying a ticket now.
